Another newbie with questions

Postby Ramguy04 » Thu Oct 12, 2017 4:55 pm

As the title says I'm new to saltwater tanks and more or less wanted to introduce myself as I'm sure I will have many questions along the way. Looking into setting up a 20 gallon all in one nano reef. Currently trying to decide if I'm better of buying a tank and piecing together all the equipment or just buy a kit to get started and upgrade as I progress. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

You might be able to find a good used one on here. Don't skimp on filtration

I'm going to keep my eye out for one for sure. I don't plan to start the tank for another couple of months. Just collecting information at this point.

I'd find you a nice used setup a little larger than a 20. Bc you will want larger than a 20 once you get the hang of things.

Hello Barry. Thanks for the response. I have been considering that as a possibility. Unfortunately at this time I don't have room for anything much bigger than a 20 but may be able to fit a 30 gallon of bigger if it were a corner tank. Keeping my eyes and options open right now.

Hey, from one newby to another, GO for it. It is great! Check out Craigslist, i saw a couple corner tanks on there. There are also some others you may be interested in

i think i could fit a 36" wide tank in the space im looking at. I would definitely be looking in the used market if i stepped up to that size i believe. At that size would i be having to think about a sump and plumbing? i haven't seen many options for an all in one in that size range

With 36" i would look at a bigger tank.. there are some nice 54ish gallon setups in that size range. Deep blue makes a rimless one I think

Or a 40 breeder is good. You can get them at 40$ when they have the dollar per gallon sales at petco.
