Brandon's 300 gallon peninsula tank

I figured it's time to start the thread even though it will be slow at first. The tank has arrived at AA. They will removing the stock corner overflows and plugging the drain holes. Then they will build a black acrylic single overflow box on the right side of the tank. The overflow box will be 24" wide and 4" front to back. Larry and I decided on 3- 1.5" overflow drains with a bean animal style to reduce gurgling and air bubbles.

Right now the plan is to use a 5'x18" 120 for the sump. With a overflow drain section with a cover and filter socks. Then a skimmer section followed by a return and reactor chamber. The return pump will T off and feed the fuge all the way to the end if the sump as Larry suggested that would be more ideal than T'ing off one of the drains. As of now the plan is to use a water blaster 16000 return pump which is around 4500 gph. The skimmer will be a super reef octopus 5000 external pump or a 6000sss internal pump.

Here is a pic of my little dude in the bare tank (turned on its side).

Just ordered a 120 gallon sump. Hard to believe my sump is the same volume as my old DT! It's 5'x18"x26". Larry also said my custom overflow box should be done by tomorrow so hope to get some photos soon.

This is my inspiration for a stand. Floor to ceiling. Which will give me enough room to access the top of the tank. There will also be cabinets on the overflow end (where that grey band on the image is to the right). Color will either be Oyster or light wood stained grey to match the two kitchen cabinet colors.

After much discussion and thought, I decided to keep the fuge out of the 120 sump. I want to have enough volume for the tank to drain and not overfill the sump in case of power outage and I didn't like the thought of having a small fuge on such a large system. The 5' sump will now have a drain section with cover and union fittings. Then baffles that lead to the 22" skimmer section which will then cascade over two filter socks and then lead to a large return and reactor section. I will probably use a 40 gallon tank for a fuge and have a 20-30 gallon tank for ATO. The builder gave me a completion date of Jan 28th for the house so hopefully the stand will begin construction after the floors are installed this week.
